The navigation lights on my boat were the small “sharks’ eye” type, and mounted low down in the bow, only three feet from the waterline, and and also fitted with tiny 10-watt festoon bulbs. I replaced them with new nav’ lights mounted higher on the coachroof with Fresnel lenses and LCD bulbs. I now feel a lot happier about being seen at night at sea. Good night lights can be the difference between making a safe passage or not…
