The 36” inch deep ice box on my boat was hopelessly inadequately insulated and did not keep a bag of ice frozen for more than two days. This article shows how an ice box can be converted into a proper 12 volt powered freezer. Few tools are needed to install the equipment from a plug-and-play kit and fit it into an existing box. The article also describes how insulation can be increased to reduce running times and battery consumption.
